Ok. I have a lot to say with little time but at least it's not going to kick me off and delete my email if I don't do it in time like at the MTC. The MTC was great but I am glad to be out of there and I hope I never have to be there for 9 weeks again.
I'm going to do my best to do a play by play and hopefully that answers all the questions that you asked. P-Day is Thursday. And ALL letters in the mail will always go to the mission home. From there they forward them to us. Packages too. The address is like 1331 Airport something else. Good luck with that.
Well, I'll start at the airport. That is where we last left off on this adventure. I talked to you guys until 8:20. I thought that they would page our flight...but they didn't. I liked it better that way though because everybody was on the plane and we didn't have to wait in line. All we did was get in and sit down. Then we had a 15 min wait anyway. So I went to the bathroom before we even left. It was one of those tiny planes and when I opened the bathroom door there was this giant black flight attendent man in there. He was just hiding in there until everyone got in their seats because the plane was crowded. He was a smart man. I sat by one of the other sisters, Sister Crossan, on the flight down. There were 14 of us in the travel group. There was a guy behind us that another sister was sitting by from Pocatello. He told us about the family trip they had just taken to Island Park and showed us pictures of the snow and their snowmobiles. Now he lives in Dallas I think.
When we landed President Thurston and Sister Thurston and the APs picked us up at the airport and we went to the mission home. The trailer with our luggage got a flat tire because one of the Elders parked it on the curb funny when we got there. We went in and had a huge lunch of brisquit (I don't know how to spell that) and beans and potatoes and all that stuff and it was awesome. President Thurston taught us that the 4 B's of Fort Worth are Baptisms, Bluebell, Brahm's, and Brisquit. After that we had a short testimony meeting and then went to the Hurst stake center for orientation. Elder Jesse Spackman was there. That was cool. He asked how Preston was and I couldn't really tell him anything because nothing has changed. They told us a lot of stuff and I don't really remember any of it. We met Rulon Gardner's mom. She's the health something or other. The senior couples are cool. And crazy. I met the new office couple, the Jenson's, in the MTC. They're really neat. I like them.
After that we went back to the mission home (the sisters) and spent the night there. We got to go to bed at 8 but I didn't fall asleep until around 10 because it was freezing. In the morning we woke up and walked around a park that is behind the mission home. It was still freezing. After that we went back to the Hurst stake center to the transfer meeting and met our new companions. I still have 2 companions, but they're really cool. Sister Checketts is from Arkansas and is from a family of 8 and Sister Rivas is from Brooklyn. She's a Temple Square missionary so Fort Worth is her 3 month mission thing. She loves it here and she doesn't want to go back. Mom, did Sister Thurston tell you I was going to Denton? Because I an in Arlington. I don't really know where that is so I might as well be in Denton, but it's kind of cool here. It's kind of a bigger city like Spring and stuff but the stores aren't as nice looking. Our apartment is...a missionary apartment. There is an exercise room where we can work out in the morning though. That is cool. OH, and Elder Udall from the MTC is in my district. He thought he was going to get rid of me but he was wrong. It's fun to have someone that I know in the area. We've seen each other everyday.

After we went back to the apt for lunch we went tracting. First we went to a neighborhood. Not many people were home but we got a few white cards. What that is is we have index cards and when someone is interested in hearing more we have them write their information down on it so we have it. After that we went to an apartment complex. I think that we were looking for someone but we never found him. It was great though...everyone was just wondering around outside and there were a million people to talk to. Even if they don't want to talk, they tell you as they walk by and then continue to carry on a conversation about how their day is and how you are as they walk away. We had one guy still talking to us after he'd crossed the parking lot and was walking into his apt. We got a lot more white cards, I bore testimony in Spanish to a guy about how reading the Book of Mormon can bring him closer to Christ and I gave a lady with 2 little kids a Book of Mormon and challenged her to read 1 Ne 3. We also talked to a lady with is the secretary for a Presbyterian minister and she's visited with elders before but she doesn't believe the Book of Mormon is from God. She was really nice though and she told us she admired what we were doing and she told her minister they need to step up their game and get out there like the Mormons. We also talked to a guy named David that just got baptized into the Presbyterian church last month. We told him a bit about prophets and how we have one today and he seemed interested. I'm excited to go back and talk to him.
After that we met up with our district at San Luis, a Mexican restaurant. They feed the missionaries for free because the previous owner was a member and when he sold it he put that in the contract. That's pretty cool. After that we had some teaching appointments. They told me about all of the investigators and stuff but I was confused and didn't really know where we were going. Then we picked up a member to teach with us and after that all conversation was in Spanish so I really didn't know what was going on. We went to a lot of houses and no one was home. I think those were our appointments. We taught one lady in a trailer home. At first I thought that we were looking for her daughter or something but then we taught her. I have no idea what the lesson was about. I didn't say anything and I got really tired and I almost fell asleep. Then at the end they asked me to say a prayer. My companion was telling me something but it was Spanish and I don't know what she was saying so I just started praying. I prayed that the lady would have more time and better health...those are the only two words I could really pick out of the lesson so I just went with it. My companions said afterward that it was a good prayer and I hit it right on. The Lord must have been helping me. Then we taught a mom and her 2 kids. The kids are 8 and 10 and are super smart about the gospel. They want to be baptized but one of their parents is always working so they never have time. The mom is interested too but she works Sundays and she can't get them off. The member that was with us takes the kids with her to church. The mom is also pregnant and due in April so she's quitting her job in a month and a half. We taught them the first part of the plan of salvation and I taught why we wanted/needed to come to earth in Spanish. After that we went home and went to bed.
Today is P-Day. We woke up and did our studying and then cleaned the apartment and went to walmart. I thought that I was going to have to buy bedding and a lot of stuff but there is a ton of stuff at the apartment already so I really only had to buy food. It was great. I also got some new shirts at the apartment. Good stuff. After that we had a zone BBQ at a park. It was fun getting together with everyone. Our zone is really cool. There was a family there playing so we invited them to eat with us. They did and some missionaries talked to them and they are coming to church on Sunday. There was also another girl there, Casey. She's 20 and she'd run away from home because she has a bad home life and she was really drunk. We talked to her for a while and she told us she kept wanting to leave but she knew that there was a reason that she found us today. We got her name and address and stuff and I think we're going to go see her in a couple days. I also gave her a Book of Mormon and told her that whenever she had the urge to drink (because she told us she wants to stop) that if she would read it it would help her through it.
Now we're at the public library emailing. I have three min left so I better go.
I love you all.
Love, Hermana Vaughn
P.S. I almost forgot the most crucial thing!!!! You may be wondering..."What is the BMW?" Welp...it's the Best Mission in the World. And that is where I am.
Hasta luego.
